Pianist Sylvester Mazinyane to perform in Newtown

In association with Concerts SA, exceptional pianist Sylvester Mazinyane, plays two nights at Niki’s Oasis, on the 15thand 16th of December 2017. Sylvester Mazinyane is a Soweto born pianist who has performed on both local and international platforms.

He has worked with some of South Africa’s greatest musicians. This includes but is not limited to Selaelo Selota, Judith Sephuma, Jimmy Dludlu, and Bernice Boikanyo on the Blue Hats Project. He completed his studies in music at The University of Cape Town with piano being his principal practice. He has released an album, titled Down South and is currently working on his second album.

He recently completed a tour in the Middle East and has returned to grace South African audiences with his unique style of jazz. His showcase currently includes Sakhile Nkosi on Bass and Bernice Boikanyo on Drums. His style incorporates afro sounds and jazz which creates a unique sound.

This performance by Sylvester Mazinyane at Niki’s Oasis Jazz Restaurant is part of the Concerts SA Venue Circuit which aims to foster a love and support for live music in our communities, as well as anchor small and medium sized venues in urban and rural Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Western Cape.

Niki’s Oasis jazz Restaurant is the original Home of Jazz in Jozi! A Home away from home where we serve sumptuous soul food.

Concerts SA is a joint South African/Norwegian live music development project housed within the SAMRO Foundation. Concerts SA receives financial, administrative and technical support from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, SAMRO, the SAMRO Foundation and Concerts Norway. Working with musicians, promoters, venue owners and audiences, and providing support to the sector through research and skills development for music professionals, the project aims to build a vibrant and viable live music circuit in southern Africa.  It also aims to develop an interest in and appreciation of live music by showcasing music performances and conducting workshops at schools.
