Seth Rotherham, founder of 2Oceansvibe, a media group based in Cape Town, released his first book on 15 July entitled Work is a sideline, Live the holiday – a guide to making money on the Internet. In the book, Rotherham takes readers into the more serious side of his personality and shares tips on how he manages to live life as if it were a holiday.

Rotherham says the book captures how to seize opportunities within an emerging market, which is rapidly grasping technology for profit. It is a quick read of less than 10 000 words where the entrepreneur uses colourful language, comic anecdotes and screen shots to illustrate many of his points.

Rotherham has been awarded top honours at South Africa’s most recognised blogging awards for the past five years and says he stopped entering because it became too much effort for a predictable outcome. He says his book is important for both young and old and in keeping with his unconventional approach to life, he chose to self-publish rather than take the traditional publisher route.

“The book let’s you test any product or service on the internet with an investment that starts out at R250. Follow the instructions to create an e-commerce solution, accept credit cards and generate traffic. I have thrown in a section on ‘life hacking’ tips to live an easier life when the income starts coming in,” says Rotherham.
